Coinbase stock tumbles following viral Super Bowl ad
Coinbase couldn’t handle the traffic generated from its ad debut on Super Bowl causing a brief outage and a dip in stock prices.   

Coinbase was both praised and criticized for its cryptic Super Bowl ad debut. However, the Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency exchange wasn’t prepared for how this massive increase in traffic would affect its server infrastructure. The result? Website outages, traffic throttling and the inevitable stock dip.   

Getting your advertisement featured on such a high-profile event as the Super Bowl, of course, comes at a heavy price already and any brand worth its salt tends to go all out – investing in a star-studded cast as well.

However, Coinbase decided to go completely the other way, and even though their ad was nothing more than a bouncing QR code, it ended up being more successful than its own website could handle.

Coinbase stood out from the rest of the pack by opting for a very cryptic QR code bouncing along the sides of a black background for 60 seconds instead.

Those that did end up scanning the QR code, before the outage, ended up on Coinbase’s website where they could claim $15 of Bitcoin for free just for signing up for a Coinbase account – along with other prizes.

Impact on stock price
As soon as the server issues began, Coinbase started to throttle traffic to its website in order to provide relief to its servers. However, the damage had already been done: stock prices dropped by nearly 2% and ended up finding support at $190.

Thankfully, the bouncing QR logo was a wild success and prices also bounced back to normal levels shortly after. Coinbase is currently trading near $196, however, Bitcoin’s recent rocky performance could also be capping any potential upside.

Shares in Coca-Cola Company (KO) are still managing to remain in profit regions after a successful last quarter in 2022. The company is making gains of around 10% compared to the previous quarter.

The company’s earnings report for the fiscal quarter ending December 2022 is set to be released on Tuesday, 14 February, before market open. The consensus EPS for Q4 is $0.45 compared to Q4 2021’s $0.45.

The consumer defensive stock of Coca-Cola has a decent dividend yield of around 2.87%, which is relatively good news for its investors, while the payout ratio is a little more than 75%. This indicates the company is paying out the majority of its earnings in dividends, which may sound like good news to its investors, but at the same time, it means that the company is not very keen to engage in growth activities.

On the technical side, the price is trading on a very strong technical resistance area, which is made up of the daily bullish trendline, the 100-day moving average just below the 38.2% of the Fibonacci retracement level.

With the Stochastic oscillator trading near the oversold levels and the support of the lower band of the Bollinger bands and the 50% of the Fibonacci, we might see some correction to the upside before the release of the earnings report.

If the bears are proven to be strong, we might see a continuation to the downside with a first point of support laying around the $59 area.

Adobe Inc

Shares of Adobe Inc (ADBE) have been trading sideways in the quarter ending May 2023, followed by a strong bullish rally in mid-May. The company is expected to announce its earnings for the fiscal quarter ending May 2023 on June 15, after the market closes. The consensus EPS is $3 (USD), compared to $2.70 for the same quarter last year.

Adobe has consistently reported strong quarterly earnings that either beat or met estimates for around six years. There is widespread anticipation that the impressive performance seen in the early months of this year will continue in the latest quarter as well.

On the technical side, the price has been experiencing aggressive bullish movement over the past month, due to the hype surrounding AI-related products and companies, including Adobe. The price encountered resistance around the $440 mark, which has been a significant level since mid-August 2022. Currently, it is undergoing a correction to the downside.

Although the 50-day moving average is still above the 100-day moving average, indicating that the overall bullish momentum remains intact, the Stochastic oscillator has reached an extreme overbought level over the past two weeks. This may suggest that the correction to the downside could continue until it returns to "neutral levels." The Bollinger Bands have significantly expanded, indicating heightened volatility in the market for the company's shares. Therefore, it would not be surprising to see another major move in either direction in the coming sessions.

BlackBerry Ltd

The share price of BlackBerry Ltd (BB) has seen a remarkable gain of around 53% in the first five months of this year and is currently trading within a range at the time of this report. The company is expected to release its earnings for the fiscal quarter on June 22. The consensus EPS for the quarter is -$0.06, the same as the result for the corresponding quarter last year.

Even though the company managed to recover some of its losses in 2023, it is still not profitable, reporting negative earnings for at least the last four consecutive quarters. From a financial perspective, the company's current ratio is at 102%, meaning it is currently able to cover its short-term liabilities with the current assets it possesses, while the total assets outweigh the total liabilities at a ratio of around 2:1.

From a technical analysis perspective, the price is currently trading above its moving averages, with the 20-day simple moving average acting as a support for now. The Stochastic oscillator does not indicate any overbought or oversold levels, although it is trending towards oversold territory.

The 50-day moving average is still above the 100-day moving average, indicating that the bullish momentum remains valid. Meanwhile, the Bollinger Bands have contracted significantly, explaining the sideways movement observed on the chart in the past month.
